New application to calculate roof slope, terrain, and stairs
As a building professional, you've surely had to calculate roof, ground, or even stair slopes before. This isn't always easy. Today, we'll explain how to calculate a slope and the benefits of a calculation app.
5 reasons to download an app to calculate a slope

- Accuracy :
The MeasureAll application has been designed specifically to calculate a slope and to perform complex measurements. The slope of an incline That of roofing will determine its resistance to wind, its solidity, as well as its impermeability through the optimal flow of rainwater. It is also used to calculate the correct quantities of materials. The slope of the ground must be taken into account to guarantee the stability of a construction. For a staircase, it's about user safety. Therefore, slope calculation applications are very precise, in order to address the challenges that building professionals face.
- Time saver :
Calculating a slope yourself usually takes a lot of time, especially if math is not your strong suit. Calculation programs like MeasureAll, therefore, allow for very quick calculations.
- Make money :
Many people decide to invest in calculation software, but it's a solution that can prove very expensive over time. MeasureAll is available for only €4.79 per month.
- Simplicity :
No need to be a digital native! MeasureAll is accessible to everyone. It has a clear advantage over calculation software, which often has too many features that are easy to get lost in.
- Flexibility :
Perform your calculations anytime, anywhere! MeasureAll is available from your pocket, whether you're on a construction site, in the office, or at home.
What is a slope?

A slope is the Angle of inclination of a surface relative to the horizon. The value of the slope is expressed in percentage and allows its inclination to be determined. However, it is also possible to calculate the degree of slope.
For a steepness of the terrain Elevation difference between two points. The roof pitch or roof slope is the measure of the angle Who makes the rafters relative to the horizontal plane. For a staircase, this is the measurement of the angle between the ground, and the imaginary line passing through the edge of the step. For a straight staircase, the slope must be between 25° and 40°; for an outdoor staircase, it must be between 15° and 25°.
In mathematics, the slope is represented by the letter m. It corresponds to the change in the value of y when x increases by one unit. The slope, is the number that represents the slope of a line relative to the x-axis. The higher this number, the more the line tends upwards, and therefore the steeper the slope. Conversely, the lower this number, the weaker the slope.
How to calculate a slope?

To calculate one or more slopes, you need to divide the vertical distance (elevation difference) by the corresponding horizontal distance; it is expressed as as a percentage. Slope Calculation:
100 x Vertical distance / Horizontal distance.
To illustrate this, let’s take a piece of land as an example. If, for every meter traveled horizontally, the land rises by 0.10 meters (height calculation), then the slope is 10 percent:
100 × 0.10 / 1 = 10 %
If, on the other hand, for two meters traveled, the ground rises by 0.20 meters, then it will be a 20 percent slope:
100 × 0.20 / 1 = 20 %
If you wish to obtain the slope in degrees, the formula is as follows:
Arctangent (vertical distance / horizontal distance) x (180 / pi)
For example, if you need to calculate the slope of a roof slope as a percentage, with a ridge height of 2.5 meters and a horizontal width of 4 meters, simply apply the formula:
100 × (2.5 / 4) = 62.5 %
To get the slope in degrees:
Arctangent(2.5 / 4) x (180 / pi) = 32°
